Join us for a stimulating discussion of this year's OMOB title. “What Storm, What Thunder” by Myriam J.A. Chancy

Published in 2021, What Storm, What Thunder was awarded an American Book Award from the Before Columbus Foundation and named a best book of the year by NPR, Kirkus, Chicago Public Library, New York Public Library, the Boston Globe, and the Globe and Mail. The authors past novels include The Loneliness of Angels, winner of the Guyana Prize for Literature Caribbean Award; The Scorpion’s Claw; and Spirit of Haiti, short-listed for the Commonwealth Prize. She is a Fellow of the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation and HBA Chair in the Humanities at Scripps College in California.

 

One Maryland One Book is overseen by Maryland Humanities, a statewide, educational nonprofit organization that creates and supports bold experiences that explore and elevate our shared stories to connect people, enhance lives, and enrich communities. Beginning Monday August 12th, the Chevy Chase Library will have physical copies of the book to borrow for those planning to attend the discussion in September, while supplies last.
