Read to a Dog

Practice your reading with Kenni, a trained and certified therapy dog! This program is intended for children ages 5 and up who have some ability to read aloud on their own. 

Share a book with your new best friend Kenni! Read to a Dog develops reading skills and confidence as you share a book with a dog. They’re great listeners! Bring your own book or choose one from our collection!

Sign up begins 15 minutes before program begins at 3:45 p.m. First come, first served. No siblings or adults allowed in the session. Readers will each get up to 10 minutes to visit and read with a therapy dog.

Library Program Attendance (both virtual and in the branch) is limited to participants within the suggested age range of the program. Children attending an MCPL program under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Adults attending a program intended for children must have an accompanying child.

Accommodation Requests

People who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing should request English-language captioning or sign-language interpretation at least five days before the library-sponsored program they plan to attend. Contact the Assistant Facilities and Accessibility Program Manager at 240-777-0002 with all other accommodation requests.
