A popular monthly Chevy Chase Library program returns! In French, with English subtitles
Join us for a screening of "La gloire de mon père" (My Father's Glory), a film in French with English subtitles. Based on the autobiographical novel of the same name, the film recounts the childhood memories of author Marcel Pagnol during family summer holidays in Provence with his parents and another family. This 1990 film is directed by Yves Roberts, and takes place in the pre-WWI era. The film stars Philippe Caubère and Nathalie Roussel as the parents, and Julien Ciamaca and Benoît Martin playing the author at different ages. The film runs one hour and 45 minutes. This is a public performance rights (PPR) showing and is recommended for viewers 18 and older.
With this program, we are happy to announce that our popular pre-Covid Chevy Chase Library Montgomery County Foreign Film Showings has returned! Programs will occur on the first Sunday of the month. Screenings begin at 2 pm, after a short introduction. Plan to arrive at 1:30 to meet other attendees, and so as not to miss the film introduction. Tea will be served after the showing for conversation to continue. This program series will showcase a variety of programs from around the world. We will choose films from the Kanopy program, which can be accessed with a library card.
