Join the DC Retro Jumpers and learn about the history of Double Dutch in celebration of Juneteenth!
DC Retro Jumpers (DCRJ) presents a lively Double Dutch exhibition that merges word and movement. We will have a brief explanation of the role of Double Dutch in celebration of Juneteenth by DCRJ founder Joy Jones. After the explanation, DCRJ team members and coach start turning and invite participants into the rope. Double Dutch is a remarkable style of jumping rope that uses two ropes turning at the same time. DC Retro Jumpers is a Double Dutch team that does demonstrations and provides classes to adults and children throughout the metro region. The DC Retro Jumpers have appeared on WUSA-TV, WRC-TV, Retirement Living TV, The Washington Examiner, The Washington Post, as well as other news sites.
This program is sponsored by Friends of the Library Montgomery County (FOLMC).
