Join us for a beginner’s cooking program for ages 8-12. We will prepare one recipe with common ingredients, no special equipment needed, and no complicated techniques. You can cook along, or have fun observing while we demonstrate. Adult supervision is required for safety. You provide your own supplies. The ingredients and tools you need are listed below, so you can have everything ready before we start Mixing It Up!

INGREDIENTS
NOTE: If you have an allergy to any of these ingredients, do not use! Substitute an alternative.
All-purpose flour
Baking soda
Iodized salt
4 Tablespoons (¼ cup) unsalted butter (melted and cooled, can be slightly warm to the touch)
Granulated sugar
Vanilla extract
Large egg
M&M’s - about 1/3 cup
EQUIPMENT
Oven
Parchment paper
Baking sheet
Whisk
Butter knife
Measuring cups (dry and liquid)
Measuring spoons
Rubber spatula
Medium mixing bowl
Large mixing bowl
Optional: 7 small to medium sized bowls to place ingredients after measuring
Pot holder
Cooling rack
Spatula (metal or plastic)
