So You Want to Design a Book Cover... - Virtual

A 5-week workshop for Teens that will take them from brainstorming ideas through to creating a book cover using craft materials.

If you love books and have ever wondered how they get made, this workshop will introduce you to the process that goes into creating a book cover. We'll start by understanding how designers use visual tools like shape, color, and line to connect with readers' emotions. Each week, attendees will be given one aspect of the cover to focus on and bring in for feedback and assistance during the next week's class. At the end, we'll get together and present our mockups to each other.

This event will require access to basic craft materials: scissors, paper, crayons/colored pencils, and a printer (if you plan on using a photo as part of your cover, for instance). Also think of a favorite book whose cover you might want to redesign. No previous design or drawing experience is required. We're all here to learn!
