"The irony of man's condition is that the deepest need is to be free of the anxiety of death and annihilation; but it is life itself which awakens it, and so we must shrink from being fully alive." ― Ernest Becker, The Denial of Death virtual discussion of Death.
At a Death Cafe people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death. According to deathcafe.com, a Death Cafe's aim is "to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives". A Death Cafe is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counseling session.
