Ages 11-19! Learn basic touch-ups for photos & images using the freeware program GIMP, available on MCPL's public PCs and laptops! Cut out a figure and match it to background lighting. SSL & candy!

For ages 11-19! Teens & tweens - want to learn how to make basic edits to photos & images using the free software GIMP, like erasing a pimple from a photo, or cutting out a figure and matching it to a background's lighting? This event is for you! Express yourself through digital art and enjoy candy!

Join us at Brigadier General Charles E. McGee Library from 4 PM - 6 PM in the large 3rd Floor Meeting Room. GIMP is a free open-source graphics program available on the library's public PCs and laptops - similar to Photoshop, but free! GIMP allows you to create graphics or edit photos using customizable tools and features.

Earn SSL by helping us with setup, designing future library programs, library program advertising & cleanup/takedown!

The Maryland STEM Festival is a month-long celebration of science, technology, engineering and mathematics designed to advance STEM and STEAM education for children and teens that takes place every fall.

FreeState Justice, Maryland’s LGBTQIA+ civil advocacy nonprofit organization, is offering a free, confidential legal name change clinic with guidance, resources, and support for Maryland residents of all ages! The clinic date is Saturday, August 29, 2026, 2 PM - 4 PM at Brigadier General Charles E. McGee Library. The program will take place in the 3rd Floor Meeting Room. Walk-ins are welcome, registration is encouraged! Earn SSL from the library by assisting at the event, including preparing & designing future library programs and cleanup/takedown!

Library Program Attendance (both virtual and in the branch) is limited to participants within the suggested age range of the program. Children attending an MCPL program under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Adults attending a program intended for children must have an accompanying child.
