MCPL 75th - History of Twinbrook Library
Celebrate 75 Years of MCPL!
Saturday, September 12
12:30pm - 1:15pm
As the Montgomery County Library system celebrates 75 years, learn about the Twinbrook Library, which opened in 1959 in space in a local shopping center and moved into the current building in 1976.
Join Miriam Bunow, Education & Outreach Manager for Peerless Rockville, as she explores the history of the Twinbrook Library. As the Montgomery County Library system celebrates 75 years, learn about the Twinbrook Library, which opened in 1959 in rented space in a local shopping center and moved into the current building in 1976.
The Time Capsule event will be occurring at the same time. We ask you to help us fill a time capsule to be opened in 25 years when MCPL celebrates 100 years.
Donate any small keepsakes such as: old summer reading t-shirts, expired library cards, photographs of the Twinbrook area, copy of favorite book, any MCPL swag, etcetera. If your item is too big or we no longer have space, a photo can be taken.
If you are unable to make it to the actual event but would still like to participate, donations for the time capsule will be accepted beginning September 1 through to the day of the event on September 12. In addition, postcards will also be available beginning September 1 where positive messages, thoughts, and memories can be written for those opening the time capsule in 25 years to read!
All are welcome to attend all or part of this event celebrating Montgomery County Public Library's 75th anniversary.
Let's gather together as a community to reminisce of years past as we look towards the future.
