Fact Finders, a Summer Nonfiction Book Club

Mushrooms, Toadstools, and Other Fungus!

Every week in July we will talk about the amazing, cool, and even disgusting things we've read in the week's books. Come one week, two, three, or all four.

Did you know that fungus is an important part of the ecosystem? That baking bread involves fungus (yeast)? That the largest mushroom is bigger than 1600 football fields? Read all about mushrooms, yeast, mold and more!

A different set of books will be available each week in July, ready to introduce the topic of the week. Read them all or just one. Come ready to share a fact or two with others, play some games or do an activity. Reading informational texts helps build vocabulary and knowledge of the world around us. This is a book club for children who can read independently. Caregivers must remain in the building but do not attend the session.

Ask at the White Oak Checkout Desk for this week's set of books. You can take as many as you like.

This is an independent learning experience. Parents and caregivers will not be present in the program room but must remain in the library building during the program. 

Library Program Attendance (both virtual and in the branch) is limited to participants within the suggested age range of the program. Children attending an MCPL program under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Adults attending a program intended for children must have an accompanying child.
