Dino-ROAR: a contest for children 3-12 years old

Come dressed to impress and showoff your loudest, fiercest, most dino-rific ROAR!
Kick off the 2026 Montgomery County Public Library Summer Reading Challenge with a dino-roaring contest!
Can you ROAR the loudest? Do you have the fiercest ROAR? How about the ROAR with the most personality? Well, we are about to find with a dino-ROARing contest!
We will kick off at 12:00pm with a sign-up and dino-mite warm-up. Then we will see our contestants ROAR. While our dino-judges are deliberating all attendees will have the option to take part in some dino-trivia. We will finish up with award presentations and one last community ROAR!
- First 40 participants will be judged, though all are welcome to attend and join the fun!
- Costumes are encouraged and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
- Prizes for all contestants with trophies for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and one honorable mention.
During the event, library staff and volunteers will be available to answer questions about the program, assist with sign-ups, and provide materials for those who register. Can't make the event? Sign-up (or log in) online or at your local library starting May 15, and begin logging and tracking your progress, starting June 13th.

Library Program Attendance (both virtual and in the branch) is limited to participants within the suggested age range of the program. Children attending an MCPL program under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Adults attending a program intended for children must have an accompanying child.
