Learn about Aastha Adult Medical Day Care, a non-residential center for the elderly who place a high value on their independence, friendships, healthy lifestyle, and medical care.

Join us for a presentation by Aastha Adult Medical Day Care, a non-residential center for the elderly who place a high value on their independence, friendships, healthy lifestyle, and medical care. Aastha Adult Medical Day Care is based in Silver Spring, Maryland. Learn more about Aastha's services, activities, and how to enroll.

Please note: This session will be tailored toward Spanish-speaking audience, with bilingual availability and offering support in other languages such as Hindi, Punjabi, and Persian

In this presentation you'll learn about some of the services provided by Aastha, including:

  • Transportation: To and from home and the center.
  • Nutritious Food: International breakfast and lunch options.
  • Medical Monitoring: A full-time registered nurse on-site.
  • Social Services: Assistance with appointment setting and counseling.
  • Physical Exercise: Yoga, Tai Chi, Zumba, and breathing exercises.
  • Mental Nourishment: Art, meditation, and cognitive exercises.
  • Cultural Activities: Festivals, karaoke, dancing, shopping, and field trips.

Please note that eligibility requires Maryland Medicaid (no out-of-pocket expenses). Additionally, participants should be ambulatory, as Aastha does not cater to patients with dementia or Alzheimer's.

Library Program Attendance (both virtual and in the branch) is limited to participants within the suggested age range of the program. Children attending an MCPL program under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Adults attending a program intended for children must have an accompanying child.

If you plan to attend with a group of ten or more, please contact the branch at least one week before the program to discuss how your group might be accommodated.

Accommodation Requests

People who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing should request English-language captioning or sign-language interpretation at least five days before the library-sponsored program they plan to attend. Contact the Assistant Facilities and Accessibility Program Manager at 240-777-0002 with all other accommodation requests.
