Curious about how assistive technology supports people with disabilities in living more independently and fully? Join us for an engaging virtual “tour” of the Maryland Assistive Technology Program (MDTAP), led by James Whitney, an occupational therapist and Assistive Technology Clinician with MDTAP.
James will introduce the mission and services of MDTAP and guide participants through the world of assistive technology (AT) designed to support people with disabilities across the lifespan. The presentation will explain how individuals with disabilities (and their families or caregivers) can request services, and what types of support are available. The presenter will also highlight the AT program’s lending library and the wide range of devices that help people with disabilities communicate, learn, work, and manage daily activities. Time-permitting, the presentation will conclude with a brief virtual “show-and-tell,” featuring selected AT devices and real-world examples of how they can enhance independence and quality of life.
This program is ideal for people with disabilities, caregivers, service providers, and anyone interested in inclusive, accessible technology.
