Enjoy an afternoon of traditional Indian music in celebration of Diwali!
Celebrate Diwali with a recital featuring traditional Indian music, including vocals, sitar, and tabla. Learn about the history of traditional Indian music through an introductory instruction of each of the featured instruments. Participants will also enjoy a Bandish, which is a classical song about Diwali. Audience participation will be encouraged.
The featured performers are:
Mallar Goswami, tabla player, who studied with Pt Govindo Bose and Sri Probir Goswami
Harsh Kinchi, sitar player, who learned sitar from various gurus: including Ustad Shahid Parvez and his lineage and also sings gazals
Sunetra Mahajan, vocalist, who studied with Vidush Usha, Tilekar-Deshpande, and Smt Dhanashree Pandit-Rai

Library Program Attendance (both virtual and in the branch) is limited to participants within the suggested age range of the program. Children attending an MCPL program under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Adults attending a program intended for children must have an accompanying child.
