Big Cheese performs to begin the day followed by grandparents' reading favorite stories to grandchildren. Bring your own family or adopt another family.
On grandparents' day, we will have an intergenerational celebration. You are invited to bring three or more generations of grandparents, parents, and grandchildren to enjoy music and stories. The intergenerational band, The Big Cheese Band, starring Larry Rice and his daughter Lea Mae Camarda, will perform a few traditional folk songs. If we’re lucky, 8-year-old granddaughter Dottie will join them, bringing the band full circle to include three-generations. Following their performance, we will gather together in intergenerational groups so 'grandparents' can read some of their favorite stories to the family.
Don't have a grandparent or a grandchild? Not to worry! We will match you up with the 'missing' generation to form a family of of your own for the day of the event. You might just find some new friends.
If you have a favorite story time book at home, feel free to bring that one. If you would like us to be sure your story can be found at the library, please notify us at least one week ahead so we can be sure your favorite story is available. Ideally, prepare for 2 or 3 stories based on the time available.
This will be a delightful and warm day of sharing and togetherness. Please join us and register so we can be sure to accommodate all of you.
