This presentation by a representative of the Sandy Spring Slave Museum and African Art Gallery explores the history of the Underground Railroad (UGRR) in Montgomery County, Maryland. This secret network consisted of a diverse group of individuals who risked their lives to help enslaved people escape to freedom. The stories that have been preserved reveal the resilience, courage, and determination of those who sought freedom. In this presentation, we will highlight the journeys of Montgomery County’s freedom seekers and the allies who aided them along the way.
