Learn the basics of Beat Production with Words Beats & Life!

Join us as Words Beats & Life presents a workshop on Beat Production! Start developing a technical skill set for music theory and production. The program will touch on aspects of music theory such as tempo, song formatting, chord progressions, major/minor chords, scales, intervals and melodic structure. Learn how to program and identify a drum track in 4/4, ¾, 2/4, and 6/8 using bass drums, snare drums, and high hats to create a standard rhythm.

Words Beats & Life (WBL) is DC’s longest running, dopest Hip-Hop based arts educational non-profit. They work to break down those barriers that keep our cities' outstanding young creatives from taking full advantage of the opportunities that come along with living in the Nation’s Capital. Their goal is to invest in DC’s creative ecosystem so artists and creators can be living examples of what our city’s creative youth can accomplish with the right tools and the best role models. They host workshops, after school programs, concerts and festivals aimed at nurturing youth creativity.

For teens, ages 13 to 19.
