A Long Petal of the Sea is an epic novel spanning decades and crossing continents, following two young people as they flee the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War in search of a place to call home. Chilean-American author Isabel Allende is perhaps best known for her debut novel "House of the Spirits," which was a smash hit and launched her successful writing career.
