Climate change is the giant monster hiding in our midst. This forum with Paul Chan, a noted climate activist, will discuss what climate change is and people can do to help.
The effects of what we collectively call “climate change” are varied and have dire consequences for both plant and animal life.
Our expert scientist, Paul Chan, has a PhD in atmospheric science, concentrating on climate. During his career, he held several positions within the US government dealing with the world’s climate and weather. He conducted climate research and was Director of NASA Goddard’s Earth Science Data Center. While at the US Department of Agriculture, he developed an approach for assessing agricultural vulnerability. As Chief Information Officer for the National Weather Service, he developed a solution for flood hazard-risk reduction. In retirement, he founded and is CEO of Climate Decision, a company helping clients reduce loss and improve business continuity under threats of weather and climate hazards. He is also a Visiting Scientist in Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, China.
After an initial review of the overall climate situation, Paul will address questions supplied in advance by the organizing team as well as by interested parties during the registration process. In addition, time will be set aside for a half hour of questions from the audience.
