Get ready explore the science of wind! Make observations, then do some hands-on science experiments. For children ages 4-10 and their families. Online pre-registration (children only) is required.
Get ready explore the science of wind! The air that surrounds us is something that we might not think a lot about, but when we learn more about it, we realize that it is an exciting topic! We will first read about and discuss how air moves, engaging children in thinking about their world through literature, discussion, song, and movement. Children will observe some interesting presentations, listening and predicting as we go. They will then have the opportunity to engage in several simple hands-on science experiments. Finally, children will create their own simple wind-powered objects, using both artistic and engineering skills to decorate and construct their very own pinwheel! We will provide all the materials for this program. Sponsored by Friends of the Library, Montgomery County, MD. For children ages 4-10 and their families. Online pre-registration (children only) is required.
This hands-on program will provide children with the opportunity to use their critical thinking, creative, and problem-solving skills to connect ideas and skills through literature, movement and song, discussion, and an art and engineering-based take-home craft in order to develop meaningful learning connections and a love of learning.
