Tween Book Club

Book club for readers in Grades 4-6. Each season we pick a different style, theme, or genre of book to explore. This Fall/Winter we are kicking things off with graphic novels!

Welcome to Radical Readers: Books & Beyond, Potomac Library's new book club for young readers in grades 4-6. Every season we pick a style or genre that gets us excited about reading. For our first Fall/Winter season, we are reading graphic novels!

This December we will be reading Plain Jane and the Mermaid by Vera Brosgol. Join us as we discuss the book, play games, and enjoy some light refreshments!

"Jane is incredibly plain. Everyone says so: her parents, the villagers, and her horrible cousin who kicks her out of her own house. Determined to get some semblance of independence, Jane prepares to propose to the princely Peter, who might just say yes to get away from his father. It's a good plan! Or it would've been, if he wasn't kidnapped by a mermaid. With her last shot at happiness lost in the deep blue sea, Jane must venture to the world underwater to rescue her maybe-fiancé. But the depths of the ocean hold beautiful mysteries and dangerous creatures. What good can a plain Jane do?"

Pick up a copy of the book from the Circulation Desk at Potomac Library starting November 13th. 

For Grades 4-6. Library Program Attendance (both virtual and in the branch) is limited to participants within the suggested age range of the program. Children attending an MCPL program under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Adults attending a program intended for children must have an accompanying child.
