Learn more about the Housing Opportunities Commission’s Fatherhood Initiative which seeks to strengthen families by strengthening fathers.

The Fatherhood Initiative offers a curriculum that covers all aspects of being a father including Responsible Parenting, Healthy Relationship Education, Employment Stability and Mobility and Case Management.

In addition to the curriculum, program participants have access to a wide range of resources such as:

  • Community Resource Referral
  • Adult Education
  • Workforce Development
  • Financial Literacy

Eligibility: The Fatherhood Initiative is open to any father that has children living in HOC housing, participating in HOC housing programs, or on the HOC waitlist regardless of age. This program is designed for fathers that want to improve their skills as a father.

Library Program Attendance (both virtual and in the branch) is limited to participants within the suggested age range of the program. Adults attending a program intended for children must have an accompanying child.


Accommodation Requests

People who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing should request English-language captioning or sign-language interpretation at least five days before the library-sponsored program they plan to attend. Contact the Assistant Facilities and Accessibility Program Manager at 240-777-0002 with all other accommodation requests.
