Join the Lincoln Center’s first-ever poet-in-residence, renowned writer Mahogany L. Browne to talk about her work. Mahogany is a playwright, community organizer, arts event curator & literary educator receiving fellowships from Arts for Justice, Air Serenbe, Cave Canem, Poets House, and Mellon Research & Rauschenberg. She is the author of Vinyl Moon, Chlorine Sky, Chrome Valley, Woke: A Young Poets Call to Justice, Woke Baby, and Black Girl Magic.
Mahogany is the Executive Director of JustMedia, a media literacy initiative designed to support the groundwork of criminal justice leaders and community members. She held a long tenure as the Friday Night Slam curator and Poetry Program director at the famed Nuyorican Poets Cafe and received a SWACC! Focus Fellowship award along with nominations for the NAACP’s Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work. Browne has served as the Executive Director of the Bowery Poetry Club and as the Artistic Director at Urban Word NYC.
