Fans of action & adventure, fantasy & mythology! Pick up and read "Kiki Kallira Breaks a Kingdom" ahead of time and join us as we follow a young artist who becomes a character in her own stories!

Enter a world of action, adventure, fantasy and Indian folklore as chronic worrier and gifted author/illustrator Kiki Kallira becomes a key character in the drama of her own drawings and stories, inspired by the mythology of India!

No Shelf Control is a discussion group for students in Grades 4-6 who love to read and have fun talking about books and characters! Tonight, as part of the Montgomery County Public Libraries’ celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we'll be discussing Sangu Mandanna's “Kiki Kallira Breaks a Kingdom,” the first in a series about a new heroine. You can borrow a copy (with a specially prepared reading guide just for our group) from the Connie Morella Library; just ask at the Check Out or Information Desks for the May book for No Shelf Control. You can also access the book as an e-book or audiobook on Libby/Overdrive (it is not currently available in any format through Hoopla). If you get an e-version, please contact Mr. Jeff for the reading guide (jeffrey.coster@montgomerycountymd.gov). Even if you are not able to finish the reading, please come anyway and see if No Shelf Control might just be the place for you! The book for the June 12 meeting (the final one for the 2023-2024 school year) will be handed out tonight, and then available to pick up from the Connie Morella Library by anyone who missed it.

Library Program Attendance (both virtual and in the branch) is limited to participants within the suggested age range of the program.
