Enjoy an afternoon of stories and crafts in honor of Women's History Month!
History is filled with stories of brave, inspiring women. Join us for a special storytime and craft in honor of Alice Paul, a suffragist who fought for women's voting rights. Featuring the book Miss Paul and the President by Dean Robbins and the nursery rhyme The Lady with the Alligator Purse, children will learn the story of Alice Paul who fought tirelessly for women's voting rights. The crafts will include recreating Alice Paul's suffrage flag and designing your own alligator purse.
This is a free family event, appropriate for all ages. No registration needed.
About The Yellow Roses: The Yellow Roses is an organization that empowers young people to participate in their democracy, even if they are too young to vote. Since 2020, The Yellow Roses have been organizing community events that bring together families for service learning projects, non-partisan "get out the vote" events, social justice story times, and local park clean-ups. The name "The Yellow Roses" comes from the women's suffrage movement, when people wore yellow roses to demonstrate their support for voting equality.
Library Program Attendance (both virtual and in the branch) is limited to participants within the suggested age range of the program.
